The Spirit of Astana audience could not help dancing to the vibrant Balkan music by Jjubojna
The second day of the festival of contemporary ethnic music The Spirit of Astana, which the capital of Kazakhstan meets for the first time, is at its height, Tengrinews.kz reports. The largest music event is taking place in the open-air format in the square in front of the Baiterek monument, the entrance is free. The project was established by the national radio station Tengri FM with the support of the Astana Akimat.
The fiery show of the Macedonian band Jjubojna turned out to be one of the highlights of the festival. The band "rocked" the capital audience with fast and melodic Balkan tunes.
As the Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to Kazakhstan, Ilia Psaltirov said: music and culture are very important components of each person's life, helping to bring the two countries closer together. "The festival is held at a time when there is such a big manifestation in Astana as EXPO, I think that the Spirit of Astana is a very good project not only for the capital of Kazakhstan, but also for the guests who have come here. This is a very famous festival. I think that Astana also needs such an event, it's a very good idea," - the Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia in Kazakhstan said.
"Jjubojna are very famous musicians in Macedonia, they have been awarded with the title of the band of the year. Last year we also organized several joint events. This was very good concerts. Your artists often perform in Macedonia, like ours in Kazakhstan. For two and a half years since the opening of the embassy in Astana, cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Macedonia have been developing (...) They are very important , so that people get to know each other, I am very glad that so many people are interested in Macedonian culture and music. The history of Kazakhstan is exciting. And this is a very good opportunity to show Astana and Kazakhstan to our sitizens. This is another step in our cooperation. Only through culture we can open the doors to other areas, such as economy or education, " - he said.
"This is our first visit to Astana, Kazakhstan, we are full of emotions, we are here only for two days, but we feel like we have been here for a month, there are so many places to see, enjoy, feel, it is an important and big festival. Here we saw many other bands, we had good impressions from the Kazakh public, and we hope that we will be able to perform here again. We have managed to establish a good connection with people," - Jjubojna band members shared their impressions.
The festival continued with the performance of Edil Khussainov and Satzhan Project from Kazakhstan. Edil Khusainov himself skillfully plays several ancient Kazakh instruments - zhetygen, sybyzgy, saz-syrnai, kamys-syrnai, kaursin- syrnai, shan-kobyz. He is also known in Europe and the USA. In 2005, he performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, in 2006 gave a recital in Tokyo, and in 2015 performed at the EXPO in Milan.
He came to the stage together the jazz band Satzhan Project, who always tried to adhere to national cultural traditions. Their music was changing from the classical rhythm of jazz to the amazing throat singing by Edil Khussainov. The audience was delighted at the moment when, unexpectedly from the stage, a song of Abai Kunanbayev's song "Kozimnіқarasy", familiar to Kazakhstanis, sounded. "We are very proud of our Kazakhstani artists, for example, an amazing team with Edil Khussainov - Satzhan Project - great artists, they are all a compilation of huge talents of Kazakhstan, which we are proud of," Sergey Maiboroda, the chief director of The Spirit of Astana said.
The international project The Spirit of Tengri, born on Kazakhstani land and already having the status of a national cultural brand, was first presented in the capital.
In total, 14 music groups will perform their music on the stage of the festival: Geo Train (Georgia); DJ Carmen Rizzo (USA); Huun Huur Tu (Tuva); Namgar (Buryatia); Ljubojna (Macedonia); Motiva Zenekar (Hungary); Argymak (Bashkortostan); Inna Zhelannaya (Russia); Tamikrest (Mali); Steppe Scape (Tuva / Buryatia / Germany); Edil Khussainov and Satzhan Project (Kazakhstan); Almaty drums (Kazakhstan); Tigrahaud (Kazakhstan): DJ Nariman Issenov, DJ Roman Bazhanov, DJ Rustam Ospanov, DJ Arsen SuperFly (Kazakhstan). With the support of Tez Tour, international tour operator.
The stage is arranged in such a way that the concert will be seen from any point of the square. At the same there will be large LED screens installed on the sides of the stage, so that the audience could not miss a single element of the upcoming show. The admission is free.
On May 20 and 21, the fifth, anniversary festival of ethnic culture The Spirit of Tengri was held under the sky of Almaty. The festival of music united under its roof hundreds of ethno-bands from more than 30 countries and regions of the world. The Spirit of Tengri Festival is a multicultural project aimed at demonstrating the ethnic traditions of the countries of the world on the Kazakh land. The project is established by the national radio station Tengri FM.
