The Black Sea music and Georgian jazz sounded on the stage The Spirit of Astana
The second day of the festival of contemporary ethnic music The Spirit of Astana, which the capital of Kazakhstan meets for the first time, is at its height, Tengrinews.kz reports. The largest music event is taking place in the open-air format in the square in front of the Baiterek monument, the entrance is free. The project was established by the national radio station Tengri FM with the support of the Astana Akimat.
This year, a Georgian band GeoTrain performed at the festival for the first time. The group got along with the Kazakh public very quickly - the artists were joking and talking to the audience every now and then. The band is amazing by how smartly it manages to combine classical jazz and elements of rock and roll with Georgian national music.
The Georgian artists began to feel the vibe so bad that they rushed to the dance right on the stage, inviting the public to dance with them.
The performers, who fell in love with the Astana audience, left the stage to loud applause and shouting "Well done!".
"Everything was fine, I certainly expected that Astana would be no worse than in Almaty, if not better. The audience was wonderful, they were singing and dancing with us. Incredible feelings! With such feelings, we can play and sing much better, which is very important. Such festivals must take place in all countries, and you are the pioneers. This will raise the spirit of the people. When the public sees it all, they will remember it for years. This is important for musicians, listeners, the government,” – GeoTrain’s musicians shared their emotions.
Artists also shared the secret of a successful performance. "I think our secret lies in the Georgian three-voiced singning, we have little children brought up with Georgian songs, they are still in love with them so that they are physically healthy and live long," - the musicians added.
"I also noticed that when I sing a lot, I can drink wine and stay sober for longer time, for example, if I do not sing, it's already difficult," – one of the musicians joked.
The Tuvan band Huun Huur Tu and the American DJ Carmen Rizzo, already beloved by the Almaty audience, performed at the festival of contemporary ethnic music, following the guests from Georgia. The music of Huun Huur Tu absorbed the whole heritage of Tuvan folklore and the tradition of throat singing. Their performances have a magical effect on listeners, contributing to the expansion of the boundaries of human perception. On the Spirit of Astana 2017, the band has already traditionally performed with American DJ Carmen Rizzo, who was twice nominated for a Grammy award.
Atmospheric synthesis of throat singing and electronic music has already sounded several times under the sky of Almaty at the festival of ethnic culture The Spirit of Tengri. A joint performance with a popular DJ drew new colors into the throat singing of "Huun-Huur-Tu".
The Spirit of Astana presents a unique line-up of musicians, which the organizers specially prepared for the capital audience.
"People who come to see these concerts are always looking for a variety and uniqueness, I noticed that the audience is increasingly perceiving this kind of music," the musicians noted. The chief director of The Spirit of Astana Sergei Maiboroda especially noted the expanding geography of the festival. "Speaking of the music bands that come to our stage, it's probably right to say that they are all huge, we very carefully select musicians for our projects, so we can not single out someone. The geography of our project speaks for itself. We have the opportunity to represent all the corners of our planet. These are Macedonia, Mali, Russia and many other countries on this stage. The project is great, global, national. We are proud of it and we are giving it to Kazakhstanis and guests of our country within EXPO-2017 with a great pleasure, "- said the chief director of the project The Spirit of Astana Sergei Maiboroda.
"The Spirit of Astana is one of the brightest and biggest offspring of the Spirit of Tengri project, you know, the project has existed for five years. This year, if we may say so, we have left the borders of Almaty. "Nomad Way Festival together with The Ministry of Culture and Sport, and today we represent the festival The Spirit of Astana on Baiterek. For us this festival is of great importance not only because the line-up of the participants is very wide and bright, not only because we are doing this project with very close partners, and huge amount of media resources, but also because it is taking place in the very center of our capita. This site is incredibly significant and interesting for us. I think it is very symbolic that in Astana, the capital of our Motherland, the festival of The Spirit of Tengri begins its journey. The great future awaits it," - Sergei Maiboroda said.
