Organizers of the international festival of music and dance The Spirit of Dance 2018 have completed the announcement of the line-up. It is known that Kazakhstan will be represented by singer Mergen, DJ Nariman Issenov and dancers Nomad Way, Uzbekistan will be represented by percussionist-virtuoso Ravshan Yunussov, group Abbos, DJ Mardon and dance ensemble Tumor, reports.


A grandiose dance festival to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Astana on the stage of the Central Concert Hall "Kazakhstan" will be held on September 14, beginning at 19.00. Tickets for a unique show can be purchased at, as well as at the ticket offices of the chain store "Meloman Marwin". Guests are welcomed by the hotel Rixos President Astana.


The organizers of the unique "seamless" dance show are the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with The Spirit of Tengri project.The Spirit of Dance is the fourth festival of the project team and the first, in which a greater emphasis is placed on the dance part. The stage of the Festival  will meet musicians, dancers and DJs from 7 countries from around the world.


Ravshan Yunussov from Uzbekistan  is a virtuoso percussionist, leader and artistic director of the ABBOS group. He has participated in many festivals in Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Bulgaria, Romania, England, France, the USA and other countries. Ravshan masterly plays the doira, a traditional Uzbek percussion instrument. He can play three doiras simultaneuously.


Ravshan Yunussov, along with his group, whose members play the doira, karnay, surnay, ruboba and tanbur, are regular participants of the The Spirit of Tengri festivals.

At The Spirit of Dance, the musician will perform as a member of the ABBOS group, as well as solo.


The dance ensemble Tumor was created by Honored Art Worker of Uzbekistan Rustam Shamsutdinov in 2011. The ensemble's choreographer  is Charosoy Jurabaeva, the youngest and most successful choreographer of Uzbekistan. The ensemble represents the Uzbek dance art in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Germany, Turkey, Israel, India, Macedonia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Albania and Montenegro.

A performance by artists from Uzbekistan will be complemented by the DJ set from DJ Mardon from Uzbekistan.


Mergen is a Kazakhstani artist, singer, songwriter, violinist, music video director and producer. As a violinist, she has performed on the stage of Konzerthaus Berlin, London Barbican and other concert halls throughout Europe. She has participated in writing music for London Fashion Week, Red Cross and Cresent and other projects.


Also, Kazakhstan will be presented by DJ Nariman Issenov, whose sets are a unique synthesis of ethnic and electronic music.

The audience and the guests of the Festival will enjoy the distinctive Kazakh dance culture by the Nomad Way dance group. The group was specially created for The Spirit of Dance show. The choreographer of the dance group is a director-choreographer of television, theater and concert projects Lyayla Dzharlykasymova. She also teaches modern and folk choreography at the Seleznev Almaty Choreographic School. The artistic director and choreographer of the Nomad Way group is Zhanatay Kozhabekov. He is a member of the board of the Union of Choreographs of Kazakhstan, has worked as a chief choreographer in the Central Ensemble of the Ministry of Defense and the State Dance Ensemble Altynai, also taught at the Ballet School.


In addition, at The Spirit of Dance, you will hear solo performances by the world stars of the ethno-world-scene.


USA is represented by DJ Carmen Rizzo, a famous producer, remixer and musician who is based in Los Angeles. He has been twice nominated for Grammy Awarded. He is known for work with such famous musicians of our time as Seal, Coldplay, Paul Oakenfold, Alanis Morissette, Dido, Jem, Niyaz, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Khaled, Tiësto and BT.


Natig Shirinov is a famous Azerbaijani musician who has made a significant contribution to Azerbaijani percussion music and established new music standards that gave birth to new trends in art. He has revolutionized the technique of playing the nagara and has become the first rhythm composer in Azerbaijan. His group participated in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 in Azerbaijan, opened the concert of  Rihanna in Baku in 2012, and in 2015 performed at the opening ceremony of the First European Games.


Alexander Arkhincheev, the founder of the Shono group, will represent from Buryatia. The artist sings, using both the regular vocal technique and throat singing. Moreover, Alexander plays  various ethnic musical instruments: string moriin-huur, sukha-huur and wind limbe. He performs both folk songs and his own original peices. The audience appreciate his creativity and ability to combine rock riffs and Buryat melodies.


Bashkortostan will be represented by musician Robert Yuldashev who plays on the ancient Bashkir musical wind instrument - Qurai. There are a number of the most interesting music projects to his name. For example, cooperation with Nikolay Noskov, Garik Sukachev, Pelageya, as well as performances with theVladimir Spivakov's "Virtuosos of Moscow".


The Khoomei Beat group will represent a new generation of Tuvan music scene. The musicians bring an elegant mix of expressive rock with easy carelessness of pop music. Khoomei Beat actively develop Tuvan throat singing in accordance with world trends.The lead singer of the band is Oorzhak Aykhan.


Chyltys Tannagasheva is the first Shorian who has mastered throat singing. Her creative career began 15 years ago. Since then, she has become the lauriate and winner of the International Festival of Live Music and Faith "Ustuu-Khuree" (2008), the World Festival of World Cultures "Altyn - Maidan" (2010), and the International Festival "Reed Ridu" (2014).


Kyrgyz music culture will be represented by singer Gulzada Ryskulova, who uses various genres and styles mixed with Kyrgyz traditions in her music. She easily adapts rock, jazz and electronics to folk music.The singer often performs at the most significant cultural events in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. She is also a regular participant in The Spirit of Tengri projects.


A guest from Latvia on The Spirit of Dance show is a unique folk singer Laurita Peleniūtė, skillfully preserving Lithuanian national musical traditions and culture. She reinterprets ancient melodies and songs making them understandable to the modern listener. In her work she brings together musical traditions and languages ​​from around the world.


Recall that the multimedia show The Spirit of Dance is conceived as an incredible performance with the participation of world stars in the music and dance scene. It will run in the format of "seamless show", which means non-stop. The audience should expcet for many surprises: a unique three-level stage, a light show, multimedia accompaniment and live sound.

The main participants at the Festival of music and dance The Spirit of Dance will be small dance groups from around the world. Their task is to show the modern adaptation of their national dance. the dances will be intertwined among peoples: the Georgian dance will flow into Kazakh, and the Kazakh dance will turn into Indian dance. And all of them will be performed accomoanied by completely different music: for example, the Irish revire dance will combine with Uzbek melodies. The organizers specially chose very recognizable national dance to show how they can be presented in a new way.


One piece from each country will last 20-30 minutes, between the peices the audience will see solo performances of world-class ethno artists.The guests of the Festival and the viewers of the online broadcast are waiting for an unusual symbiosis of different cultures, which they have never seen before. Earlier it became known about the participation of artists from Georgia, Ireland, India, Latvia and Canada.

The Spirit of Tengri is a multicultural  and one of the world's largest projects in the genre of contemporary ethnic music, with a status of a national cultural brand. To date, musicians from 70 countries and regions of the world have been on its stage.  Over these years, more than 120 thousand Kazakhstanis and guests of the country have been its visitors. The Spirit of Tengri  festivals are bright colorful music shows accompanied by informational art materials and video content. Thus, they are not only entertaining but also educational.


Recall that as part of the Spirit of Tengri project, this year Almaty had great success hosting the VI International Festival of Contemporary Ethnic Music The Spirit of Tengri. The event was held with the support of Almaty City Akimat and Tez Tour Kazakhstan. The general partner of the Festival was supermarket chain Magnum Cash & Carry. The series of concerts with the brand of The Spirit of Tengri continued at the International Music Festival of Nomadic Culture Nomad Way 2018 on June 22-24 at the Amphitheater on the Esil river embankment, as well as the International Festival of Contemporary Ethnic Music The Spirit of Astana 2018 held on July 6-8 in the square in front of the Baiterek monument.
